Rainy Day Hair

Rainy days can be the ultimate bad hair day! If hair is curly, the rain sometimes causes frizz. If hair is straight in the rain, our beautiful strands can fall flat. What a bummer!

As the resident fashionista, I’m here to talk how to perk up that rainy day hair in a jiffy. There are so many things a Bratzie can do!

I’m always a fan of a messy ponytail, pigtails or the uber trendy top-knot. If you’re really feelin’ down about your hair because of the rain, I suggest trying a hat (like the beret I’m wearing in the photo). There are also really cute slouchy beanies, headbands (try a thick winter, knitted one) or even go sporty with a baseball cap.

Don’t let a little wet hair bring ya down!

What hairstyles do you try in the rain? Tell me in a comment, I’m always looking for new tips!

2013 NYE Resolutions

Bratz here to talk about 2013 resolutions for 2013! This seems to be something that everybody (especially our parents) always talks about at the end of every year. The way we understand it people pick a few things they’d like to improve on, do or do without for the next year and then they try really really really hard to stick to these goals. We think making resolutions for 2013 is a great idea, so we’re going to do it too. Here are some resolutions that we’re all going to set for ourselves –

  1. Spend more time happy and less time sad
  2. Smile more to people at school
  3. See something, say something – it is NOT Ok for people to be bullied
  4. Make the effort to get better grades at school
  5. Play outside more. Be active!
  6. Always be a friend – there is no need for enemies in life
  7. Hug our moms & dads more
  8. Read one book per month (not including school required books, silly friends)
  9. Drink more water and less soda
  10. When given the choice, always be kind

Will you join us in setting goals for 2013 with NYE Resolutions? Tell us what some of your NYE Resolutions are in a comment below!

Wishing all of you a very safe and fun New Year’s Eve! Bring in the New Year with a big smile because life is beautiful…and so are you!

Be Natural, Beauty!

Cloe on the Trends Blog today to talk about natural beauty. You all have it, Bratzies! Don’t cover it up with tons of makeup, instead let it shine through like the ray of sunshine you are! Makeup sure is a lot of fun to play with and wear, but you don’t have to wear tons of it to be pretty. I think the purpose of makeup is to highlight the pretty features you already have!

Here are a few simple makeup rules I follow to keep my natural beauty –

  1. Easy on the eyeliner – there is no need for all that black around your eyes. Try to use as little (or none) as possible
  2. Keep it simple – If you decide to wear eye shadow for a day, don’t wear lipstick (instead use a clear gloss or chapstick). If you want to have a bright lip (like pink or red), skip eye shadow for the day
  3. Give the natural look a try – save makeup for special occasions and not every day. Consider it the same as a new birthday or fancy dress in your closet. Only put it on sometimes.
  4. Face makeup is not necessary – you are probably too young to wear face makeup. I know I am. My mom doesn’t let me wear it because she says it’s a bad habit to start when young and I don’t need to cover up (or ruin) my pretty skin.
  5. ALWAYS wash your face – at the end of every day, be sure to clean off all the makeup and then give an extra wash on the face to keep skin healthy and glowing. Never, ever go to sleep with makeup

Personally, I love my bright blue eyes and would never want to put lots of eyeliner around it. What do you love about your face? Share positive comments about why you don’t need to wear so much makeup in a comment.

Be Natural, Beautiez.

Thoughts about Friends

It’s total Bratz style to have lots of great people in our life (in addition to our amazing families!). Friends are a big part of our childhood memories, our school days and summer fun. They make us laugh, smile, and sometimes even make us cry. This is all part of what goes into being friends with someone and we think having a friend or two is really awesome.

Today all the Bratz got together to write this blog post as friends. We all love each other (and you, Bratzie) so much that we thought it was time to talk about what goes into being a friend.

First, we think a good friend is always there to support others. With positive energy and words of encouragement, friends are there to lift your spirits when times get tough. Sometimes a friend has to give advice or say things that their friends may not want to hear, but it is important to always tell the truth in a loving way. A friend never wants to hurt another person on purpose.

We also think a friend always looks out for bad fashion! Jade would never let Cloe leave the house in an outfit that’s not so stylish. Sometimes we consider ourselves the Fashion Police for each other. LOL! But again, we always say it in a nice way.

Most importantly, we’re all friends because we like each other and want to create fun times and memories. We all have common interests (like Cloe & Jade with cheerleading) and share a love for fashion. It’s always a good time hanging with the besties and all of us make an effort to keep our friendships strong. It’s all about trying! Try to be a good friend and you will be one!

There are many things that go into being a good friend. This is a topic we’d like to talk more about as time goes on. Would you Bratzies be interested in reading more posts about friendship?

Bundled Up Style

Yasmin here for another post on our Bratz Trends Blog today! Lots of our friends have been asking us for tips to dress during the cold Fall and Winter months, so I decided to take the lead to talk about stylish bundled up fashion.

Just because the weather is a drag, doesn’t mean our fashion has to be drab. Right, Bratzies?

There are so many ways to jazz up an outfit even when the weather is trying really hard to give us a “bad outfit day.” I recommend sticking with styles that you know you love and feel comfortable wearing. The important thing is to stay warm!

If you are still looking for more tips, I’ve put together a quick list of Do’s & Don’t’s for ya below!

The Do’s

  • Definitely Layer Clothes – it makes it easy to go from outdoor to indoor weather without freezing or overheating.
  • Be Scarf & Gloves Ready – these are great accessories that look good & help keep you warm. They’re also easy to stuff in a backpack or handbag…even a large coat jacket!
  • Consider a Hat – a lot of heat escapes from the top of the head, so a hat is a good way of trapping that heat to keep in “storage” on a cold day.
  • Mix & Match – a good rule to stick with in every season. Mix summer prints with winter colors or summer colors with winter prints.

The Don’t’s

  • Wear Summer Shorts or Dresses – it’s too cold for summer fabrics unless you cover those legs with tights or leggings.
  • Go outside with wet hair – even though wet hair may not get you sick, wet hair in cold weather sure does make someone feel colder than usual!
  • Forget to moisturize – cold weather often dries out skin & lips. Don’t forget to apply chapstick & lotion.

School Uniform Stylin’

Nowadays a lot of schools require students to wear uniforms. Some people think that it is such a drag, but us Bratz think it’s totes easy to spruce up the outfit and rock that uniform with style!

There’s a lot more to style than just the clothes you wear. Even if others are wearing the same clothes, a girl can always make any outfit her own by adding some fun accessories or playing with different hairstyles. Here’s an idea – if you have to go to school wearing a uniform and the colors are blue, black or khaki, try adding a bold orange, pink or red necklace. Even some funky color stud earrings will do the trick.

Another popular way to accessorize is with a belt. Maybe try to find a metallic gold or silver belt to jazz up the day. Tons of inexpensive belts can be found at places like Forever 21 or H&M. There are plenty of fun ways to mix up belt styles. You can be traditional and place the belt in the loops, but if you are wearing a skirt try loosely hanging the belt around your waist. Or maybe even grab a pretty sash (or scarf if it’s long enough) and tie it around the waist. That could totally fancy up the outfit!

If you’re looking for another way to style up that everyday uniform, try having some fun with different hairstyles. Wear cute headbands that can be found at accessory stores like Justice, Claire’s, Forever 21, or even the little boutiques at your local mall. Also try fun styles that are totes on trend right now like the top knot (check this YouTube Tutorial out to learn how), a side pony-tail, a funky braid (here are 4 easy braids you can recreate from Refinery29) or girly-girl curls (ask mom to help curl your hair).

Remember girls & guys, be sure to know your school’s dress code rules and always ask your parents for permission to surf the Internet for tips & tools, or to use any sort of heating products.

Indoor Fun

Cold days and winter weather is here and that means there are times when we are stuck in the house due to the snow and rain.

I really love being adventurous so sometimes it’s hard to stay inside all day. I get the worst cabin fever! Whenever that happens though, my mom always knows how to entertain me! First, she suggests that I get cozy by the fire in the living room and read the newest issues from National Geographic or Teen Vogue. My mom tries to help me avoid being on the computer all day, but sometimes she’ll even hand me the laptop so I can read up on all my favorite fashion blogs like Refinery 29, Sea of Shoes, & StyleBistro. But I can only sit and read for so long before I need to do something else. Next, my mom will take me into the kitchen with her and I practice cooking. It’s super fun! And I always get to make myself a nice cup of hot cocoa and add as many marshmallows as I want. That always makes me happy!

Board games are also a fun way to pass the time. My fam will all sit around in the living room and play games like Monopoly (which can take soooooo long to finish), UNO, and Pictionary.

I must say that the coolest indoor activity my mom came up with was surprising me with an at-home chemistry set and encouraging me to create new nail polish colors. It’s so rad! I sit in the kitchen for hours trying to mix up what I think are the hottest colors of the season. I may even bottle them up and gift them for friends this upcoming Holiday.

How do you entertain yourself when you’re stuck inside?

Style Staples

We always have tons of fun playing with the clothes in our closets and trying to create more new outfits with items we already own. If you girliez are like us (which we know you are!), fashion and style is a big part of your daily life.

One afternoon we were all hanging around with our BFFs talking about our favorite outfits. After talking clothes for hours (obviously), we compiled a little list of items that all of us seemed to have in our closet that we often used in different ways to create awesome outfits. These items are great to keep on hand and tend to appear every year in some sort of trendy fashion.  We thought it was a good idea to share these Bratz Style Staples with all of our friendz! Bratz’ Tips for a Balanced Life

Hiya friends! With the school year well under way and tons of holidays quickly approaching, we thought we should talk about the importance of taking care of your mind, body & spirit. Sometimes life gets busy and the first person that gets neglected is the one we should pay the most attention to – ourselves!

Always remember a balanced life is a healthy life, so take charge and take care of yourself. Here are 5 tips that we try to keep in the back of our minds all year round!

  1. Get plenty of Sleep –Bratzies need at least 8 hours of beauty sleep a night
  2. Drink lots of Water – be sure to stay hydrated
  3. Be Active – make an effort to do something physical for at least 20 minutes per day. Try swimming, yoga, running, pilates, stretching, hiking or even a walk around the neighborhood.
  4. Eat Right –eat a day’s worth of fruits & veggies and avoid all that candy. It’s like Mom always said – “An apple a day keeps the doctor away!”
  5. Treat Yourself – whether it’s sitting with family or friends, watching a good movie or reading a book, do something you enjoy when there is free time.
