Bratz and the Big Screen

Watching movies in the theaters and at home with the family is the best! This year there were some really cool movies like The Secret World of Arrietty, Hotel Transylvania, Frankenweenie and Ice Age: Continental Drift…but the movie that really stood out to us was Dr. Suess’ The Lorax. It’s based on one of our very favorite childhood books by Dr. Seuss.

One of the quotes that we Bratz girls took with us from the book and film, “It’s not about what it is, it’s about what it can become,” is super important to us. We love keeping an eye to the future and working hard to make everything that we have into something totally amazing in the days to come.

What were your fave movies this year, and what lessons did you take from them?

See you in the theater!

2013 NYE Resolutions

Bratz here to talk about 2013 resolutions for 2013! This seems to be something that everybody (especially our parents) always talks about at the end of every year. The way we understand it people pick a few things they’d like to improve on, do or do without for the next year and then they try really really really hard to stick to these goals. We think making resolutions for 2013 is a great idea, so we’re going to do it too. Here are some resolutions that we’re all going to set for ourselves –

  1. Spend more time happy and less time sad
  2. Smile more to people at school
  3. See something, say something – it is NOT Ok for people to be bullied
  4. Make the effort to get better grades at school
  5. Play outside more. Be active!
  6. Always be a friend – there is no need for enemies in life
  7. Hug our moms & dads more
  8. Read one book per month (not including school required books, silly friends)
  9. Drink more water and less soda
  10. When given the choice, always be kind

Will you join us in setting goals for 2013 with NYE Resolutions? Tell us what some of your NYE Resolutions are in a comment below!

Wishing all of you a very safe and fun New Year’s Eve! Bring in the New Year with a big smile because life is beautiful…and so are you!

Happy [Almost] 2013

Be Natural, Beauty!

Cloe on the Trends Blog today to talk about natural beauty. You all have it, Bratzies! Don’t cover it up with tons of makeup, instead let it shine through like the ray of sunshine you are! Makeup sure is a lot of fun to play with and wear, but you don’t have to wear tons of it to be pretty. I think the purpose of makeup is to highlight the pretty features you already have!

Here are a few simple makeup rules I follow to keep my natural beauty –

  1. Easy on the eyeliner – there is no need for all that black around your eyes. Try to use as little (or none) as possible
  2. Keep it simple – If you decide to wear eye shadow for a day, don’t wear lipstick (instead use a clear gloss or chapstick). If you want to have a bright lip (like pink or red), skip eye shadow for the day
  3. Give the natural look a try – save makeup for special occasions and not every day. Consider it the same as a new birthday or fancy dress in your closet. Only put it on sometimes.
  4. Face makeup is not necessary – you are probably too young to wear face makeup. I know I am. My mom doesn’t let me wear it because she says it’s a bad habit to start when young and I don’t need to cover up (or ruin) my pretty skin.
  5. ALWAYS wash your face – at the end of every day, be sure to clean off all the makeup and then give an extra wash on the face to keep skin healthy and glowing. Never, ever go to sleep with makeup

Personally, I love my bright blue eyes and would never want to put lots of eyeliner around it. What do you love about your face? Share positive comments about why you don’t need to wear so much makeup in a comment.

Be Natural, Beautiez.

Fall Fashion Goes Flat

Sculpted heels are awesome, but sometimes fashion needs both feet FLAT on the ground!

Hello my Bratzies! Your Funky Fashion girl Meygan here, getting ready to head back to school in a totally trendy way! This Fall has me thinking outside the box…the shoebox, that is! While I am all about the sky-high heels, a fashionista on the go needs to give her feet and back a rest now and then, which is why I am so totally stoked about the upcoming Fall trend – flirty flat shoes!

They go well with any skirts or skinny jeans, and can be as dressy or casual as you need them to be. Plus, you can throw them on super-fast if you’re running late for class, and make the mad dash to homeroom in no time without worrying about tripping in front of any cute boys! Make your first attempt at flats a bold one…try shimmery, sparkly fabric, or open-toed with a bright toenail polish.

Remember Bratzies, fashion goes a lot farther when you’re comfortable, so make that step back into class a smooth one! What kind of flats would you wear on your first day back?

Guest Post: Bratz Boyz Trends

Hey Bratzies! Super-fan Alex B here with some trendy tips for the boyz. If you know a guy with a passion for fashion who’s lookin’ to stay stylish this spring, you’re in luck ‘cuz I’ve got this season’s hottest trends for boyz to keep them fresh and fashionable!

NEON COLORS
One of this spring’s biggest trends for boys are neon colors. A touch of color adds major spark to any outfit! Pair plain skinny jeans with a bright graphic T and matching sneakers for a casual look that pops! If you’re a fan of colorful skinnies, go bold with the reverse look, using a black or white graphic T instead! Go-to colors that stand out on anyone are lime green, acid yellow, and electric blue. Neon colors aren’t just for clothes though! If your style is more toned down, adding a bright belt, colorful shades, or a rockin’ wristband will give your look electric accents that bring out the hue in you!

There are so many ways to rock neon colors! Step out in sizzling hues to make a spark in the streets, and at school!

WILD PRINTS
Also trending for guys are wild prints. Bold patterns are great for makin’ statements and stayin’ stylish! Most black & white patterns compliment neon colors nicely too, and many pieces are available in bright, colorful prints! For a laid-back look, try a printed T with jeans or shorts. For a sharper look, wear a patterned button-down instead! Everyone can pull off prints, but if you’re not totally convinced, start with basic geometrics. Be sure to avoid clashing too many patterns in one outfit too. It could mean the difference between looking your best, and looking a mess!

Peep these prints! Plaid, stripes, camo, and a funky floral too!

VINTAGE REVIVAL
Vintage-inspired looks are huge this spring too. Retro accessories are coming back big-time! Thick-rimmed glasses are awesome because they work with everything, and come in a variety of colors! Bowties are also great retro accessories because they too come in many colors and patterns, and look great with button-down shirts! Also making a comeback are suspenders. Suspenders are a cool way to add quirky style to any outfit, and also come in tons of colors! Retro accessories give your wardrobe a touch of timelessness, but don’t over-do it! Wear one at a time to give your outfits a vintage twist without looking obsolete ;)

Awesome eyewear makes the perfect accessory for any outfit!

Well dudes, that’s all for now. Stay stylin’!

Bratz Beauty How To: Cat-Eye Look

Hello lovelies! It’s Meygan here to teach you how to create the purr-fect Cat-Eye look! This is a classic make-up style that anyone can pull off with practice and good eyeliner. To get this glamourous look, you’ll need your favorite liquid eyeliner and an eyeliner brush with a fine-tip point.

1) Start by drawing a thin line on the inner part of your upper eyelid. Keep it very close to the lash line.

2)Go back to the outer eyelid and thicken the line just above the line you just drew. The line should be thin at the inner eye and slowly thicken as you get to the outer eyelid.

3) Then add a winged end—like a small check mark! Don’t let the winged end extend further than the length of your eyebrow—unless you’re going for a more dramatic look!

Be sure to rest your elbow on a surface, like the counter, to keep your hand steady. If you mess up a little, use some eye moisturizer or make-up remover to erase and start again. It takes lots of practice to get the hang of it, so just relax and have fun with it!

How do you feel about Cat Eyes? What celebs can you think of that always rock this look? We think Taylor Swift has it down!

Luv,

Lip-Wear Lowdown

Hey Bratz fanz, Cloe here to give you a lesson in luscious lip-wear! Do you know the difference between lip-gloss, lipstick, lip stain and lip balm? There are so many options for the perfect pout that it can get confusing. I’m here to help you understand it all! Let’s begin!

Jade's perfectly pink, plummy pout!

Lipstick: Lipstick comes in many different colors, from shades of pink and red to nudes, corals and plums. You can go for a natural look or pick an intense shade depending on how you’re feeling. Here are my top tips for applying lipstick:

  1. Lip liner is important if you’re experimenting with dark shades like red. Pick a matching lip liner and trace over the natural line of your lips. Don’t use lip liner when applying light colors.
  2. Use a lip brush to smooth on lipstick within the natural line of your lips.
  3. Blot! Get a piece of tissue paper and blot off excess color by smacking your lips together.

I love a luscious lip gloss!

Lip gloss: I’m a total lip gloss addict! I think I have like 7 in my purse right now, lol! When you want something easy to apply with a high-shine, go for lip gloss. They come in lots of colors, they go on smooth and they leave your lips glistening! Just glide onto your lips and go!

Lip stain: Stains give a wash of color to your lips without the shine of gloss or the strong hue of lipstick. They’re super long lasting and perfect for all-day color without the worry of reapplying. They usually come in the form of a felt tip marker. My tip for applying lip stain is to draw the line of your lips first then color in the rest. So cute, so kissable! Muah!

Lip balm: These are the easiest to wear and come in lots of fun flavors! Lip balms are made to moisturize and protect lips. There are even tinted lip balms if you want to add some extra color. My favorite is cherry flavor with pink tint.

Now that you’ve got the lip-wear lowdown it’s time to try new things! If you normally go for lip balm, try lip gloss instead! If lip gloss is your go-to lip-wear then experiment with lipstick! Being a fashionista means always trying new things!

XOXO,
